InNetics AB

InNetics is now bringing their state-of-the-art solutions in modeling and simulation into the pharma industry in close cooperation with industrial partners.

The result - PathwayLab - is an application for in silico modeling and simulation of biological processes. The aim is to help researchers to increase their understanding of disease relevant biological mechanisms with implications for e.g. target validation and prioritization.
The pharmaceutical industry is under a tremendous pressure to introduce an increasing amount of successful new drugs on the market. In order to do so, the number of validated targets, which is the starting point in the drug development process, needs to increase. A target is an entity in a biological system that is related, and ideally critical, to the disease of interest.

"Genomics has increased the number of known potential drug targets exponentially. To stay profitable, drug developers must identify and validate a manageable number of target molecules, a certain proportion of which must lead to marketed drugs. Pathway studies and systems biology, are being applied by a growing number of companies to identify valuable new targets, and to determine whether targets are critically involved in a disease process and thus useful for drug development." (CHI Report "Biochemical Pathway and Systems Analysis for Target Identification and Validation by Allan B. Haberman, Ph.D. April 2002)

The pharma industry is recognizing that they will have to apply a more structured way of working, similar to the traditional engineering industry.

InNetics is addressing this problem by introducing a software platform, PathwayLab, which allows researchers to gradually collect and store available data and biochemical process knowledge in computer models of selected biochemical pathways that are relevant for a research project. As the amount of verified and more detailed data increases it makes the models more accurate and useful for mathematical analysis and simulation.

InNetics has unique core competence and experience from complex engineering projects in modeling and simulation as well as expertise in software product development.
